Spectacular pool at The Hanging Gardens of Bali

by : Hanging Gardens Ubud Team | Date : November 21, 2014

Welcome to Hanging Gardens of Bali, the worlds most iconic and spiritual private villa resort situated in the heart of the Ubud rainforest.

Our unique and stunning hotel has 44 individual villas and is renowned for its World Famous swimming pool. This year we won most amazing swimming pool as voted by Conde Nast Traveller and number one on Trip Advisor’s list of ’10 jaw-dropping hotel pools’. We recently updated and enhanced our pool to include a beautiful new teak deck to allow more of our in-house guests to enjoy our breathtaking jungle views and the fast flowing Ayung River in the valley below.

Our stunning split-level infinity pool is lined with Batu Chandi stone and features a vast geometric wall of solidified volcanic ash. The Pool is suspended high over the surrounding jungle and appears to float in its setting, giving swimmers the unique, immersive feeling of literally swimming above the treetops and the valley.

Our twin tiered pool is at the geographical epicentre and emotional heart of the property and it is without a doubt one of the most photogenic and photographed pools around the globe. Well known glossy magazines such as Vanity Fair, Harpers Bazaar and Vogue have all featured the Hanging Gardens famous swimming pool. Celebrities across the world have visited the hotel to experience the cool refreshing water, the unique pool shape and exceptional views.

In enhancing our iconic pool, we stayed true to the vision and integrity of the original organic free flow pool design, inspired by Ubud’s well known, tiered rice paddies, and floating within the rainforest. We added an extra lower deck, which is almost hidden from sight for ultimate privacy and with only the sounds of nature as a backdrop. The lower deck suspended over the jungle with cozy circular daybeds, and a submerged shelf added to allow guests to sunbathe while seemingly floating on the surface of the water, new seating with incredible new views down the Ayung River valley, as well as a full service cabana and a sunken den with a fire place for spectacular night time romantic dining.

We opened up new views and access to the upper pool creating new shower, locker and restroom facilities to accommodate guests arriving early or wishing to use the pool while waiting for late departing flights to return home.
The upper level has an expansive deck, which flows out from the hotel’s bar. Our recently renovated pool bar now features a baby grand piano and guests can enjoy not just the spectacular view of the pool, the ancient Dalem Segara Hindu temple directly opposite the lounge and across the valley but also listen to our pianist creating beautiful and haunting background music whilst the tropical sun sets behind the jungle scene. Guests can enjoy elegant sunset cocktails such as martinis or champagne Bellini’s, with a gourmet choice of delicate and delicious canapés.

Both levels have steps down into the water for graceful access, with the bottom pool additionally featuring a stone bench for swimmers to bask in the exhilarating spray of the waterfall from the level above.

Our staff are always happy to serve both food and drinks beside the pool during the day, and most of the treatments from the hotel’s spa can be taken poolside, for the ultimate immersive sensory experience.

Honeymooners and the romantically-inclined can book Hanging Gardens’ signature Romance Under the Stars gourmet dining experience, where we float an antique wooden deck on the lower pool, decorated with beautiful, colourful drapes for a mesmerizing and delicious evening, surrounded by suspended frangipani candles with inspiring views of the ancient holy temple and the smooth, rhythmic jungle sounds at dusk.

This same floating deck may also be used as the ultimate, breathtaking wedding ceremony location, with a small number of guests able to be seated on the deck, although many couples opt to enjoy this uniquely romantic moment with just each other, before journeying through the jungle for a blessing at our temple.

For those wishing to stay dry but still absorb the beauty of this special pool, the hotel’s restaurant has expansive views over the upper pool level to the jungle, temple and valley beyond.

To entice you to come and see for yourself, we have created the #Worldsbestpool Package, which for $3500 net includes three nights accommodation in Panorama Villa with your own privately heated pool, Arrival welcome blessing, romantic under the stars rijsttafel in-temple dinner, International breakfast buffet, two hours of spa treatments per day, round trip airport transportation, Champagne and caviar served in room one of the 3 mornings and a commemorative keepsake photo album with photos taken by the well known local photo artist jean Jacques Batik.
